Hiking Trails There are various trails for the outdoor person to explore as Ladysmith is the gateway to the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park.

Didima Rock Art Centre ​ The Didima Gorge Rock Art Centre examines and celebrates the incredible culture and heritage left behind by the Khoi San as it showcases the beautiful rock art that remains as testimony them.

Spioenkop Dam and Nature Reserve is situated in Northern KwaZulu-Natal, 35 km from Ladysmith and 14 km from Winterton. The reserve was established in July 1975 and is 6 000 ha in extent.Spioenkop Dam is ideally suited to boating, but may become very rough due to berg winds between August and October. Life jackets must be carried on board and be worn at all times. There are self-guided trails available. The Siege of Ladysmith museum is also worth a visit. Visitors may enjoy game viewing with a variety of game and bird (270) species occurring in the reserve. Angling is permitted. Only during the daylight, No night fishing with a boat is permitted. Over night fishing can only be done from land within the campsite vacinity.

Cultural Sites Ladysmith was declared a town in 1850 and was named after the wife of Sir Harry smith, Lady Juana Smith. The Ladysmith Siege Museum is a must stop for anyone interested in the history of the town.

Horse Riding ​ From 2 hour rides to 2 to 4 day outrides, Ladysmith is within striking distance of the Drakensberg mountains providing for every level of experience.

Drakensberg Ballooning ​ Balloon rides are in the mornings before sunrise, allowing you the best view of the sunset from the skies above.

Catherdral Peak Wine Estate ​ Wine tasting from the veranda overlooking the vineyards over a cheese platter or light lunch has had rave reviews. You can also take a tour of the wine making process with the cellarmaster, but check their Facebook page before heading out for a visit to ensure they are accepting visitors.
